Alaska Salmon Bake

This past week the Alaska Salmon Bake opened back up for the season.

Friday was the last day of school for Little Companion.  Little Companion did very well here.  She loved her teacher and the friends she made while here.  Her teacher will be will be moving to Oregon this summer and we will be off to our next adventure so... off we went to the Alaska Salmon Bake.

Very exciting!

Into the mine we go!

The mine tunnel...

oooh, awww...

At the end of the tunnel is a cute little gold mining town.

Picture of random people sitting, enjoying their feast!

Cooker dudes cooking halibut, cod, salmon, and prime rib...YUMMY!!! I had the prime rib it was wonderful. I don't know where they get their beef here in Alaska but it is, by far, the best I have ever tasted. Daughter had the salmon and she said it was delicious too. They also had a salad bar with various tasty treats.

Here we have the coffee and dessert cabin.

After dinner we strolled around and looked at the old mining equipment.

This one is pretty cool. This is a steam operated shovel that helped build the Panama Canal; worked in Hawaii; and helped dig the Davidson Ditch, the Alaskan "water pipeline." Amazing that this old steam shovel at one time was a magnificent machine they would load on a ship and transport so far.

There were also wood carvings here and there.

Little Companion...

Hang on Little Companion!

We had a wonderful relaxing time at the Alaska Salmon Bake. Definitely a must do here in Fairbanks!

Oh, this has been fun seeing your Alaskan trip! We went on a cruise to Alaska last September and will be going again this July! It's so beautiful there, isn't it?
Hope you're doing well.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
