Teacup Tuesday

Tuesday means teacups!

Thanks go to Kim at http://shabbypinkandpretty.blogspot.com/ for hosting the event!

This is a Homer Laughlin Best China cup and saucer. I don't know the date on these. I have 2 cups and 2 saucers of this pattern. One of the cups evidently spent time in the Williamsburg Lodge in Williamsburg, Virgina because it is stamped with that on the bottom. I find that fun.

One wonders how the cups happened to make their way out of the lodge to be sold secondhand, hmmm. Must have changed dish patterns or perhaps they actually sold the cups.

I find this pattern comforting and happy. Hope your day smiles!

Your tea cups are so pretty. It is interesting how pieces end up where they do. Sometimes when I see an antique in a store that I had, I wonder, could that have been mine??

There are collectors of service hotel/restaurant china also the hotel silver.
HL made lots of it.
Yes they do change patterns from time to time..most now are all white.;-)
A lot of the pieces made their way out by smuggling… ha!!
Yes some folks will ’take souvenirs’ from room service!!
Very pretty and I would love to use it for tea with you!
Oh yes we live right across the James River from ‘Billyburg’ as we call it!!!

Your teacup this week is just charming. I love the blue and white and the simplicity of the pattern. I've often wondered myself how such pretty pieces of china can end up in antique and thrift stores. Loving pretty china as much as I do, I have a hard time imagining why anyone would want to part with something so pretty. I guess if they didn't though, I wouldn't find as much to buy for myself to enjoy... :-)

It's blue and white! That's all I need! :) I like it when there are little hints to the history. Too cute!

Thanks for stopping by and entering my little giveaway. Your name is in the pot. : )
