Teacup Tuesday!!

Teacup Tuesday

Looks like this will be our last official Teacup Tuesday. It has been a fun journey together! Thanks so much Kim.
*
My offerings today are my newer cups, I have two of each.
*
First...
*
This is Royal Doulton Expressions English China Carmel. It is dishwasher, freezer, oven, and microwave safe. The trademark is 1991. This is a nice big cup and I do use it for coffee too.

Next,

This too is Royal Doulton, made in England, fine bone china Elegy, trademark on this one reads 1976. That was the year my big sister graduated high school, she of course being much, much older than me. I graduated much, much later (in 1977).
*
My oldest daughter at one point said that of all my teacups this pattern was her favorite. She is such a sweet daughter and a lovely person.
*
So, now we move on from teacups to teapots. Do I have teapots? DO I HAVE TEAPOTS???? Oh ya, I've got teapots!!!!
*
Tomorrow (Tuesday) is little companion's first day of first grade. She will be treading the halls of public school this year for the first time. We are all pretty excited. These public schools here in Florida offer so much for the kids if they are willing and able to take advantage of it. She will be taking the bus, all so exciting and new!!!!

Teacup Tuesday

Kim at http://shabbypinkandpretty.blogspot.com/ hosts Teacup Tuesday. She has some beautiful cups displayed this week and has a beautiful blog to visit.

I did not let her know I was participating this week but even though I am a little late will participate in my small way.

This is a Devon Royal Standard bone china teacup and saucer. It has a little pink, a little red, a little blue, and a little yellow in it, what else could you ask for!

This second one is a Bernardaud Limoges France in the Gabrielle pattern. I love the blue in this one. Gabrielle was my mother's middle name, fun stuff!

So, happy Teacup Tuesday!!!!

Teacup Tuesday

I am happy to be able to participate again this week in TEACUP TUESDAY!!!!! Kim hosts this party at http://shabbypinkandpretty.blogspot.com/, be sure to get a look at the other ladies cups too.

Today I will be sharing two teacups. The first is Homer Laughlin made in 1954. Very vibrant red with gold leaves.

The fan behind my daughter and little companion brought me back from Puerto Rico this last year when they went on their cruise. I actually use my fans, mostly in church. (Oh ya, everyone is wishing they had a fan as they are sneak fanning with their bulletins.)

This next one I especially like now because I it makes me think of Bunny over at http://creativehare.blogspot.com/

She has a cup that looks a whole lot like this Golden Rose Royal Chelsea on her post on June 8. So I figure if Bunny and I ever meet up we can bring our teacups, sit and chat, and have tea. The thought makes me smile.

There have been some unexpected changes here this last week that have been pretty rough on some of my family. Ah, that's life. Remembering, as I would insist to my dad that something wasn't fair his words would be... life ain't fair. How true.

But, luckily we move on, storms in life come and go and we press onward toward our ultimate goal of a home with God.

Here's one of my favorite poems again.

The Winds of Fate
Ella Wheeler Wilcox

One ship drives east and another drives west
With the selfsame winds that blow,
'Tis the set of the sails
And not the gales
Which tells us the way to go.
Like the winds of the sea are the ways of fate,
As we voyage along through life:
'Tis the set of a soul
That decides its goal,
And not the calm or the strife.

Love that poem! Wishing everyone going through something not fair right now the peace that comes from God. Oh and HAPPY TEACUP TUESDAY!!!!

Teacup Tuesday

Hurray!!! It's Teacup Tuesday.

I am so excited to get to share this pattern. This is an Embassy U.S.A. vitrified china cup. This came with enough pieces to actually set a table for about 6 people. These are very pretty, you just want to stare at them! I can't really seem to find much information on this pattern.
*
Kim at http://shabbypinkandpretty.blogspot.com/ hosts our Teacup Tuesdays and does an excellent job!
*
I am so happy I have been able to participate along with Kim and the other ladies. I have been able to get a good start on categorizing my collection. I would eventually like to make a little picture book with a little write up on each cup.
*
Hope your week has started off well!

Teacup Tuesday

Happy Tuesday. It's time for teacups!!!

Normally I tend to collect the older patterns that probably would have been used by middle class America; however, once in awhile I run across something that catches my eye and snatch it up.

This set was made by burton + Burton and is the Rosewood pattern. It is brand-spanking new and is microwave and dishwasher safe (gotta love that!). I got this at the cutest little shop here called Millie's. Now rumor has it that the shop owner named this shop after her grandmother and she has pictures of her grandmother up behind the counter. Oh ya, I teared up over that... so sweet. So, since it is PRACTICALLY IN MY OWN BACK YARD, I'll go back there and maybe meet the owner one day.

Kim hosts this Tuesday get together over at Shabby, Pink and Pretty (http://shabbypinkandpretty.blogspot.com/) and always has something beautiful to share. Thanks Kim!

Teacup Tuesday

Tuesday means teacups!

Thanks go to Kim at http://shabbypinkandpretty.blogspot.com/ for hosting the event!

This is a Homer Laughlin Best China cup and saucer. I don't know the date on these. I have 2 cups and 2 saucers of this pattern. One of the cups evidently spent time in the Williamsburg Lodge in Williamsburg, Virgina because it is stamped with that on the bottom. I find that fun.

One wonders how the cups happened to make their way out of the lodge to be sold secondhand, hmmm. Must have changed dish patterns or perhaps they actually sold the cups.

I find this pattern comforting and happy. Hope your day smiles!

Teacup Tuesday

Today I have two teacups to present. First, this pink one is labeled Tuscan Fine English Bone China Made in England. It appears rather simple and yet the more you are around it the more you like it. It has a wonderful shine to it.

My little companion feels this teacup is "boring," and so I decided to show two teacups.

*

Now this one is Royal Vale Bone China Made in England. It has been well loved over the years. I really like the color on this one, kind of a mint green or sea mist. A little different or at least not as "boring." ha!

Kim hosts Teacup Tuesday at Shabby, Pink and Pretty and she has a beautiful collection she shares with us on Tuesdays at http://shabbypinkandpretty.blogspot.com/ Thanks Kim!

Teacup Tuesday

Kim at Shabby, Pink and Pretty hosts Teacup Tuesday and has a wonderful blog. Thanks Kim!

Today I am sharing my "where it all began teacup and saucer."

This is China Garden Prestige pattern.

I have had this china set for most of my adult life (since I was about 22 or 23). This was one of the patterns you picked up in the grocery store, if you bought enough groceries then you could buy a piece at a discount price. I didn't have much money (raising 4 kids at that point) and we didn't go through that much food at the time (kids were little), so I asked my work friends and family to help and then would pay them back the discounted price. I ended up with a huge set with about 15 place settings. This is the set my kids (5 of them) grew up on. This set of dishes has been all over the US with us and none of the dishes have ever broken during a move.

Teacup Tuesday

It's Teacup Tuesday!

My Teacup today

I don't know much about this cup. It is marked Clare bone china England. I believe it was made sometime before 1951 because it does not have a crown in the marking.

Teacup Tuesday and Hasta La Vista

Teacup Tuesday....

This is a Royal Doulton teacup and saucer
Made in England
and the pattern is Malvern.
As far as I have been able to find out I believe this was made somewhere between 1927-1933. It is in very good condition. I am just amazed it could possibly be that old!

Kim at Shabby, Pink and Pretty hosts the Teacup Tuesdays. Be sure to visit her beautiful blog!
*
As for us, the top dog, big cheese, head honcho, the big kahuna, the chief (husband who wanted to be mentioned) and Steve are now in town and loading up the truck to take to Florida. They will take some stuff and drop it off in Oklahoma and pick up some gear to move on to Florida.
*
Things are looking up. The gals (daughter, little companion, and me) along with our faithful pocket poochie will take off hopefully before noon tomorrow in a 2 car caravan.
*
We will be visiting America's home town of Hannibal, Missouri along the way (very exciting) and will also briefly see Chattanooga, Tennessee. We very much look forward to getting to our new destination. I will be thinking of everyone along the way and hope to be able to check blogs a couple of times. So my parting words will be....
Hasta La Vista (see you later)
*
and thanks Chief Warrant Officer Bircher (big buddy) and Steve (little buddy)

Teacup Tuesday

Today is Teacup Tuesday hosted by Kim of Shabby, Pink and Pretty.

My teacup today is a Nasco Japan cup and the pattern is Rose Marie.

Okay, here's the story. Whether semi- consciously or subconsciously, I do not know, I managed to pack all my teacups. So, of course that meant I needed to get more. Now I figured I would hit this one shop that I know usually has cute little china cups for fairly reasonable and get one for me and one for daughter.
*
Off my little companion and I went in search of cups for Teacup Tuesday. Sure 'nough, they had beautiful little bone china teacups for $10.00 for cup and saucer, so $20 for two. But... as we were looking around we spotted these, 4 plates, 4 bread plates, 4 saucers, and 4 cups. I don't really like to say how much but... $7.99. Okay, so ya, I know it's more to pack but alas, I had to.
*
Packed some of it and...
Plan to tote the rest along with us in case we get the chance for some downtime and tea along the way.

Portable tea party!!

(Is it just me or is this case just itching to be painted?)

Don't forget to visit Kim's beautiful blog!!!

Out and about...

Hi ho, hi ho,
To Velva, North Dakota we go!!

Want to guess what's in Velva, North Dakota?

This cool bridge going into their park and, as the sign says, 1300 Friendly People!
*

Okay, back to Minot and guess what we found today? A cup and saucer to go in my Homer Laughlin Eggshell collection, fun, fun, fun. These are really my favorite dishes I have. I love how they shine, the weight of them, the feel of them, and that they are USA made. Mine were all made in the '40s and '50s.

I'll introduce you.

This is the Cashmere design, it is Eggshell Georgian style.
*

This is my Kingston Wheat, Eggshell Georgian. I have the most of these dishes.

*

This one I had the name of and then promply lost it, it is Eggshell Georgian. I'll have to figure it out again!

*

These are my Cunningham and Pickett Norway Rose dishes. They are really made by Homer Laughlin and are the Nautilus pattern.

*

This is the newest to the collection. It is Talisman or Pastel Rose and is Eggshell Nautilus.

There are three cups but the other two have pretty bad chips. It also came with quite a few other pieces that are all in good condition. I will try to pick up a few more cups of this style eventually. All of the pieces cost about what you would have expected to pay for just this one cup and saucer and they are just so lovely!

I am getting ready to pack them, I really don't want to box them up yet. Maybe I'll give it just one more day, sip a cup of tea out of the Talisman tomorrow, ya, that will be the plan then!
