Tea Things Tuesday

When we came on our journey to Alaska we brought two suitcases  each and what they would allow us to carry on the plane. We wore our warmest coats in preparation for the February weather in Fairbanks. We did not bring any tea paraphernalia (we did of course bring tea).

So here we are in Alaska, on Tuesday, doing tea laid back Alaska style ... with a mug.  We're going to mesh that with a doily I made and mix it all up with some original artwork by Little Companion. Ready for the ride?  Come along then!
We'll start with a doily. This is my newest doily. I really like that star and I am going to enjoy it particularly on the 4th of July.

Next we will add a piece of original artwork. Now if it were Sunday we could use this one ...

When I look at this I think this is representative of the faithful Jews before Christ having their sins rolled forward and the Gentiles after Christ all being offered salvation through Jesus, The Rose of Sharon. Is that what you see?

This picture would be very pretty but, alas, it is not Sunday.

Okay, it's Tea Things Tuesday, how about this one...

I love this one. Look at those springy teacups. Let's use this one!

Next we'll add a cup.

Forget-Me-Not, Alaska State Flower. Pretty mug, yes?

A teabag rest to match and...

That'll do!

Happy Tea Things Tuesday!

Tea Time Tuesday

Happy (almost) Tuesday!

Today I am going to share a gift I received this past month from my daughter who is living in Germany while her husband serves in the United States Air Force there.

This tea/coffee service is Kolibri 48 by Arzberg. This pattern was manufactured in Bavaria Germany, circa 1945.

Now, I don't know if you know what was happening in 1945, but some very important events transpired. A major happening was that Germany surrendered at Eisenhower's Headquarters in Reims, France, May 7, 1945.

Polish prisoners in Dachau toast their liberation from the camp.

Date: Apr 29, 1945 - May 1945
Locale: Dachau, [Bavaria] Germany

Kolibri means hummingbird in German.

I love this set, it is so pretty and has a little history to boot. HOW COOL IS THAT?! Thank you Kammi.

She also sent me a little easy listening music (I very much enjoy musicals).

Perfect gifts.

Anybody up for a little tea?

Happy (almost) Tuesday!

Tea Tuesday

What can I say, I just can't give it up, life without Tea Tuesday would just not be the same!

Here's my holiday tea set up. My tables tend to be more simple than some but then this was a simple holiday tea.

We have our nutcracker centerpiece surrounded by bells of white and red and a simple white and red wreath bordering. We have our Royal Albert Old Country Roses large teapot and medium teapot standing ready for the Earl Gray Winter White tea and our pot of hot water. I only have the one teapot warmer so used my Swedish Coffee Hotten for the other warmer.

Moving around the table...

We used our Old Country Roses china as well as flatware. We used little silver plated teaspoons with beautiful little flowers. We had sugar cookies and Belgian chocolates ...

we had almond chicken salad sandwiches...

and we had honey roasted peanuts.

We had fun with family, look it's Steve!!!

Son Chad, his wife Kristy, and baby Hunter...

Daughter Heidi and Little Companion...

Tea concluded with everyone taking their little gift bag with teapot dough ornaments and little nutcracker.

Happy Tea Tuesday!!!

Tea Things Tuesday

Tea Things Tuesday comes about only once a week, luckily for us that's today!
Thanks for hosting Kim! (http://shabbypinkandpretty.blogspot.com)

Been a particularly trying sort of week. My daughter was involved in a car accident last Wednesday and spent a good portion of the day in the emergency room and then dealing with all the things that go along with that, i.e., car wrecked and towed, rental car, etc. She will be okay, just some pretty good bruises and scrapes. Then that "just a little brake dust" started actually grinding to an unbearable level on my car and had to get that taken care of pronto. One of THOSE weeks.
*
Good time for tea! New tea in the mail, FUN STUFF, we're gonna try it out. Start with your Cafe Latte tea from The Tea Table. All kinds of good stuff in this tea, black tea, cocoa bits, almond bits, coffee beans, freeze dried yogurt pieces. Sounds good!

We're going to be using our Royal Doulton Malvern cup today. We had found this up in North Dakota and toted it all the way down to Florida with us. We will be using a tea bag and filling it with loose leaf tea. These are fun and can be purchased at The Tea Table also. We are using a little glass creamer borrowed from Little Companion and a cute little tea bag holder.

Here's a closer look at the tea. Very pretty, nice and dark.

Boiling water, steep for 3 to 5 minutes...

We let it steep a little over 3 minutes.

Very pretty. Nice taste with nothing added,

Nice taste with milk and sugar.

As a reminder ... you really have to be careful what you leave out when there are impressionable children about who can read. Otherwise, you might just round a corner one day after fiddling with your tea things and find this happening in your very own house.

Tea Things Tuesday

Can it be Tuesday again already? Weird.
Nevertheless, it is Tuesday and time for.....
TEA THINGS TUESDAY!!!!
Thank you Kim at http://shabbypinkandpretty.blogspot for this opportunity to participate!

Okay, so today we have this teapot to share. This teapot is stamped Nordstrom and came with the box. I got it on ebay. I really vacillated on buying this one. I love it and yet, what does it go with, it's not really my style. I have looked for cups to semi-match and come up with black and then I think, would I really drink my tea out of a black cup? I don't think so.

It amuses me. I'll keep looking for a couple of pink cups to go with this. In the meantime, I'll just look at it occasionally and giggle.

I find it humorous (versus humerus - the upper arm bone, medical transcriptionist ya know).

Onward to my next item for show and tell...

Isn't this little miniature set fun?

Hope your Tuesday has some joy in it today!

Tea Things Tuesday

It's Tuesday and Kim at http://shabbypinkandpretty.blogspot.com is hosting another party for us!

Today I'm sharing my Dubarry Teapot by Homer Laughlin. This teapot was made in 1940 and is of the Eggshell Nautilus collection.

The teacup is Homer Laughlin Cashmere and has the Eggshell Georgian shape.

The teapot is in excellent condition and of course was made in the USA.

Tea Things Tuesday

IT'S TEA THINGS TUESDAY!!!!

A fun weekly event hosted by Kim at
http://shabbypinkandpretty.blogspot.com

Today we have our tea things on a tray. This is a good time of year for our Brown Betty teapot and Homer Laughlin Kingston Wheat pattern dishes. These dishes are from the late 1940s and are well suited for autumn.

The little plaque reads, "Don't let the grass grow on the path of friendship." This was a gift from a fellow waitress when I quit my waitress job in west Texas . Those were some interesting years, the people, the stories.... but I digress,

Brown Betty is sitting on this cute little leaf trivet I picked up for around a dollar while out thrifting. Our tea of choice was Sweet Oolong Revolution by Tevana, very tasty indeed!

Happy Autumn and Happy Tea Things Tuesday!!!!

Tea Things Tuesday

It's Tuesday and time for tea things hosted by Kim at http://shabbypinkandpretty.blogspot.com. Thank you Kim!!

Today I am going to share my Crate and Barrel teapot that I actually got at...Crate and Barrel!

It is white, very plain, and yet...

It has a wonderfully smooth texture, light bounces off it, it can survive the dishwasher, and it goes with pretty much everything. I have probably used this teapot the most. It seems to be just the right size too, medium.
*
So after my plain white teapot I decided to also share this cute little decorative teapot. Now this I did not get at Crate and Barrel, I ran across this at a thrift store and it was in perfect condition. I don't think it had ever really been used or displayed.

It's made to look like there are holes and chips and the little animals have made themselves at home. See the squirrel swinging on the handle?

I thought it was just awfully cute.
Happy Tuesday!

Tea Things Tuesday

Kim at http://shabbypinkandpretty.blogspot.com/ hosts Tea Things Tuesday. Thank you Kim (so glad you didn't stop with Teacup Tuesdays).

This week in honor of fall I am showing my Ganz teapot and two cups that I got in North Dakota.

The basket had flowers in it and was a gift from my parents in 1989, when I had a particularly heinous operation. The military flew me from Florida to San Antonio, Texas. I was gone nearly 2 months over Christmas and my youngest son did not remember me when I got home, oh ya, heinous, but, I digress....

I found the tray at Goodwill for $3.00 I absolutely love it. I think someone made it. When I washed it some of the stain came off so I think I'll put a coat of varnish or some sealant on it. The candle and little holder I found at Cracker Barrel, as well as the Indians.

Now if the Indians appear to be sweating that is probably because I managed to drop Mr. Indian and broke him clean apart in 3 pieces; feet, torso, and head. Sad.... luckily Elmer's fixed it right up and he's good as new...

just a little nervous! ha

Happy Tea Things Tuesday!!!!!

Tea THINGS Tuesday

This continues to be so much fun. Thank you Kim at http://shabbypinkandpretty.blogspot.com for hosting this fun!
*
You may remember that I found this cute little tea set, Formalities by Baum Brothers, in North Dakota at a thrift store.

Well, last weekend I found this cute little trinket teapot in the same pattern here in Florida.

Isn't it cute!
What fabulous trinket shall I put in it?

Here they are together

I also found this cute little Thomas Kinkade Teapot.

The little chimney comes off and that is where you put your hot water/tea. I don't think I will actually use it for tea, it would be very difficult to actually clean, but I like it for decoration.

Here's wishing you a happy Tea THINGS Tuesday!
