Look, Look!
We are welcoming another member to our folk instrument family.

This is my new bowed psaltery. It is relatively small, standing only about 18 inches tall. This particular psaltery is made by TK O'Brien's Folk Instruments right here in the US of A. This is a 24 string walnut psaltery with walnut back. I believe I shall call this my "psaltery."

This would be a very good instrument to take with you if you were to say, go on a journey for about 3 months, and had a limited amount of space available, but wanted to be able to play an instrument while you were on your journey.

Hi Jocelyn,
No I don't play yet, going to learn. It is fairly simple to play these especially if you know how to read music. It is basically laid out like a piano. I just got it today but have been having fun already!

Hello!
The bowed psaltery is a lovely instrument and becoming better known all the time. If you'd like more information, maybe listen to and watch some players visit the bowed psaltery network at psalterystrings.ning.com
We'd love you to join the group!

Hi Valerie,
I have no idea what this thing is, but I love it! The shape, the depth of color in the wood...its absolutely gorgeous. It looks like a fun instrument to play, and I like the idea that it doesn't take up much space...I don't have any more space!
Thanks so much for your visits and comments on my blog...I so agree what you said last week...that stuff is fun. I do love my stuff, and believe me, I'm not getting rid of the things I love...they make me happy. I am making progress in getting things organized for hubby, and that's a good feeling...there's still more to do, though...it just takes time. I am recovering from a second cold, so hope to get this decluttering finished and backt to blogging very soon.
Your photo of Disneyworld is gorgeous!
God bless,
Mary
Hi Gal!! This looks very similar to an instrument this guy was playing today at a church bazaar. It had a lovely sound. I didn't want him to stop!! So cool!
Hope you're having a lovely weekend!!
Blessings,
Becky
Hi Valerie,
I wish I could play something ! I can't even play spoons, :) :)
Thank you for being so loyal to my blog, and for the encouraging words and prayers. Now go read my blog, I gotta a surprise !!
Hi, Valerie,
Your psaltery is very beautiful! I am sure you will have fun with it as your learn to play it. Was this an instrument in Bible times? It seems like I had heard of it from the Bible. Enjoy your weekend! Vicki
